Our Story
How it started...
It started off as a simple idea and a few pages of sketches. Our religion has always been a source of comfort and at the start of a tumultuous time, we wanted a dedicated place of prayer, worship, and beauty within our home, to bring hope to our everyday lives. We hope that our shrines/altars can help you create that sort of place for yourself. One that brings you peace and happiness.
Our name comes from Our Blessed Mother, Mary, The Mystical Rose. We hope to share the light that she brings us. But regardless of your religion or beliefs, we hope that our products are useful to you and we thank you for your patronage and for supporting our small, family business.
The Process
How our handmade products come to be...
-
Hand-drawn
We like to design our items the old-fashioned way and pick up a pen or pencil to sketch out our ideas. We often take inspiration from Catholic churches and Cathedrals.
-
Hand-Cut
Our products are measured and cut by hand in our small workshop! We try our best to get a clean and precise cut. After, they are sanded until with edges are smooth to the touch.
-
Hand-Crafted
We always put in our best effort into creating a wonderful piece! We take our time ensuring that each of the pieces fit nicely with one another and stay together with the help of glue and screws.
-
Hand-Painted
Each product is painted and stenciled by hand. We take our time with each stroke of the brush, adding the pop of color that bring these items to life. With multiple layers of paint coating each item, it's sure to last a lifetime.
Meet Our Patroness and hear her story!
Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared to Juan Diego, a man of Aztec descent who had converted to Christianity, on December 9, 1531. She asked Juan Diego to build a shrine on the spot where she had appeared, Tepeyac Hill, now in a suburb of Mexico City. The local bishop demanded that Juan Diego provide a sign that would prove the Virgin Mary had really appeared to him before he would agree to build a church on the site. The Virgin Mary appeared to Juan Diego again on December 12 and miraculously showed him where to pick roses, even though it was winter, to take to the bishop as proof that she had really appeared. Juan Diego collected the roses in his cloak, went before the bishop, and then opened his cloak to show him the roses. Dozens of roses fell to the floor and his cloak had a beautiful picture of the Virgin Mary inside. The bishop was stunned by the miracle and ordered that a church be built in her honor on Tepeyac Hill.
Since that time, many people in Mexico
have greatly revered the Virgin of Guadalupe, as she has come to be called, and her popularity has grown through the centuries and thoughout the world.
